Hi. I've had a Motion Computing M1400 for a few years now, and I LOVE it.

I've just convinced my mom to get a tablet. She's a big paper user AND has a bad back, so carrying around all that paper is not good for her (or the environment). This tablet pc will be her main computer. She's a heavy traveler for business. I need help finding the right one. Price is not an issue.

MUST HAVE:
-12.1" screen (to read 8.5x11 documents)
-active digitizer screen (NOT touchscreen)
-ability to do both landscape and portrait mode
-convertible form factor
-in-tablet place to store wacom pen
-wacom pen with eraser
-wifi

IMPORTANT
-lightweight
-able to run Vista
-battery life
-warranty/tech support

NICE, BUT NOT NECESSARY
-fingerprint reader
-bluetooth
-pre-n wifi
-WOW! factor

NOT IMPORTANT
-optical drive
-price

Thank you so much!

EDIT: hard drive size/speed also not important

For light weight and usability - you have to consider the HP 2710p. A very smart compact laptop, with the ultimate in battery (especially if the extended is used).

Hmm. It seems like there are no buttons in tablet mode for things like scrolling?

Hmm, the more I look at weights, the more I'm thinking that maybe a slate with a keyboard/stand combo would be a better option. My M1400 is 3.1lbs (3.4 with battery?) and it does end up feeling heavy. MAYBE a 10" with really high resolution?
