I have a motion M1400 that has the usual Intel 2200BG wireless in it. It works, but it's flakey. Basically it works OK, but occasionally hiccups, loses connection for a second, and then reconnects on it's own. I get the usual Windows ballon that says "Wireless now Connected" or something like that.

I've done plenty of Googling on this subject, but haven't really come up with anything concrete in terms of a solution. Many talk about upgrading the Intel drivers, but I've upgraded to the absolute newest drivers.

My M1400 is 4 feet away from the wireless router. I am using a D-Link that is very reliable with all other laptops I've had in my house. I have tried 801B and G, and that seems to make no difference.

I just can't solve this problem. Anybody else have this issue?

It's a pretty common problem with the Intel 2200BG. Try going into Advanced -> Adapter Settings -> Advanced and put Power Management into maximum performance.

Tried the latest drivers for the WiFi adapter and firmware for the router...?

virbing makes a good point and that is the simplest thing to try; you could also replace with an Atheros wifi card

My M1300 with 2200 Intel works very well with D-Link router, both XP and Vista, actually much better with Vista.

You using the Intel Pro panel or Windows wireless control? I found Windows wireless worked better.

Also, remove RAM cover and check that both antenna clips are firmly attached to card. It wouldn't hurt to power off FULLY and eject card and reseat.

2495 Intel cards are available new on eBay very cheap.

Do go to Device Manager>Network>Intel right-click properties and make sure highest power, etc are selected.
