Always looking for new ways to abuse the LE1600, a few of us have been looking for peripherals that would allow the use of the machine as a video monitor.

All we lack is the simple video-in interface (ok, I admit we were looking for HDMI) that that is as portable as the machine.

The goal is to use the 'puter as a live-view monitor for digital still or video work, so everything has to be small.

Sure, there are plenty of 5"-8" field monitors and lots of portable DVD players have a video input, but none of those can pop off the mount and handle XP.

Fun challenge?

If the 'source' machine and the LE1600 are on the same subnet, you might try MaxiVista for this kind of application. It has worked well for me.

and a brief review with application notes

Looks like a possible replacement for Synergy on my desktop and notebook combo, but it would be a bit dodgy to try to get it running on a Nikon D3 even with the wireless network adapter. (I considered it for a moment!)

We're stuck with using a video signal only.
