Hello!

Recently I have bought a used Stylistic 4110 on Ebay.
Unfortunately the pen does not work on the lowest 1-2cm. So I could not reach the taskbar!

I have checked this with XP Tablet Version 2004 (SP1) and 2005 (SP2).

It does not matter which driver I use: original Microsoft (wacomserial) or drivers from Wacom Site (Version 5.05) – both the same result.
I was not able to install the original Fujitsu driver!?

I do not know, if this problem is related to the digitizer, the pen, or the driver.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Matthias

Matthias:

...This sounds like a hardware problem, specifically the digitizer. To the best of my knowledge, this sort of failure is not commonly reported in the Fujitsu forums, but there's always a first time!

Rather than try to deal with this problem yourself, I would suggest that you contact your seller and negotiate a return. The majority of used tablets on the resale market work perfectly; finding a replacement should be easy, if a bit of extra trouble...

Thanks for your quick reply!
I suspected this!
Could you estimate how much a repair will cost?

Matthias:

...The best way to get a repair estimate is to simply call Fujitsu and ask. In my past dealings with them, telephone waiting times have never been overly long. Just ask what they would charge to install a new digitizer. I wouldn't be surprised if that turned out to be a couple of hundred US dollars.

HOWEVER, I think there's another consideration here; the ST4110 is a pretty old design by today's standards. If you have to spend money for a repair, why not return it to the seller and put that extra money into buying a more current design... like an ST5010 or ST5022...?

has been a private auction on ebay - no warranty, no return

Update:
Repair was easy: opened the case, unplugged the digitizer connector, re-plugged the connector and everything is fine!
Thanks for your support!
