Vista SP1

any experience or advice regarding SP1? I'm running Vista on a 1600, and the update is not appearing in Windows Update. Anyone have the same problem?

SP1 won't appear until all associated required updated drivers, audio and video in particular, have been installed. Whether such drivers ever become available for older hardware remains to be seen. At the least, patience for those rollouts will be required. Some legacy hardware may never get SP1 because of driver deadends. It's unfortunate, since Vista until now has been so legacy accommodating. SP1 seems much less flexible.

I downloaded rather than waiting for it to appear via windows update, removed the beta SP1, had various updates during the day and then did the full update at night, all working great no problems.

I downloaded an updated video driver for our LE1600 from the manufacturers website,, and was immediately offered SPI from Windows update. Installed it 2 days ago. It's made a real difference. No problems so far.
