Hello everybody!

I'm posting here because I'm really torn. I've always done my homework when buying a new Tablet, and I've never been upset with my decision. For the last three years, I've very happily had a Toshiba Tecra M4. My Tecra has a large screen and a GeForce Go 6600 video card, which is great for a tablet.

Well, since the Tecra is 3 years old, I've decided it's about time to upgrade. Herein lies the problem: I can't find anything "better."

The only convertible that's caught my eye is the HP tx2000z, and honestly, I'm worried about the fact that it only supports 1280x800 resolution. The size of the screen doesn't bother me, although the fact that it only has a GeForce Go 6150, which is a step down.

So I'm torn. The tx2000z is smaller, which I like, but I'm concerned about the resolution and graphics card. I'm not a power gamer or anything ... but I would like a little bit of power on the video.

Can anybody help me break the stalemate or make another suggestion? I'd really appreciate it!

MM

MM,

That is really tough. One of the most consistent complaints about tablets is the lack of anything but a basic Intel graphics chipset. I guess due to space and heat there haven't been any good options. Even in the convertibles that are large enough to be a desktop replacement there haven't been many options for better graphics.

Honestly, I can't give you any good suggestions. The field is very limited.

I'm in the exact same situation. I've had my Tecra M4 since August 2005 and have been generally happy with it (other than the loud CPU fan). The HP tx2000z looks like the only viable option, despite the step down in graphics; however, there's nothing else out there better than an integrated Intel graphics chipset. I've heard rumors that Apple is making a tablet, which should be interesting, but but as time passes my Tecra M4 is slowly getting left in the dust :(
