x41 charging problem

Dear All,

Has anyone come across this...

I have been using a 4 cell standard battery for about two years now. Performance gradually declined, to the pointthat one day the battery stopped chargin altogether - the charging light flashes orange. So, I brought a new (8 cell) battery. When I plugged it in all looked ok, the battery charging light was continuous orange (I think that means charging), but after 24 hours, the battery is still at 0%.

Any ideas!?

have rebooted the computer? see if that helps.
download notebook hardware control and see what it says about your battery.
you might need to run the batter rundown in ibm power manager

Fixed!

I checked a load of things, and it worked fine with my friends power brick. Aha, so it's dodgy. Not so fast. When I unplugged it my IIyama monitor turned off. I'm sure you can see where this is going.
