I need something small and very light.
I am a Pastor and will be using this for notes while preaching. Varied light conditions. I will be using MicroSoft Word primarily. I would like it to be small enough (if possible) to have in my hand for reference without using a podium. The screen could have a single page visible at a time... or even two side-by-side?
Recommendations? Motion Computing or others?

SteelPastor,
Yes either the LE1600 if you want a 12inch screen or a LS800 with a 8inch screen, ok for one handed use but gets a bit heavy with the extra battery on the back.
I am an electrical estimator and spend half my week on site making notes and doing quotes. I use my LE1600 with the Bump Case and Portfolio case depending on the enviroment.
Try and get one with a View Anywhere screen.
The LE1600 is a great slate tablet even to todays standards.

SteelPastor,
If you plan on using a TPC w/o a podium, you want to go as light as you can.
Trust me on this one, I know!

Hi SteelPastor,
I have done a fair amount of lecturing while standing without a podium. For me, it is very difficult to work from full-text notes like Microsoft Word. I tend to use mindmaps I create in MindManager ( http://mindjet.com ).
This allows me to keep the Tablet PC cradled in one arm, referring to it as needed. I find this much more natural than holding it in two hands as I tend to when reading full-text pages.
For this application I use an HP TC1100 (10.4" screen) - 3 pounds, or a Motion M1400 (12.1" screen) - 3 pounds.
Both of these are older machines but completely functional for this application.
I have tried the Motion LS800 and although I liked the size and weight, the resolution (800 x 600) did not work well for me.
If I did not have the machines I have now, I might look at the Motion C5.

The very clinical white case may not work in your situation.
Also - it might be useful if you can get a dual mode machine; one that has an active digitizer for inking with an pen, as well as a touch-screen capability. You would tend to use the inking for input, and touch-screen for easy navigation operation with your finger.

How about a larger-sized PDA that uses a Windows operating system. Maybe an HP 4155?

Hello SteelPastor
I found the updated version of the HP 4155, the http://hpshopping.speedera.net/www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/images/products/fa979aa_300.jpg
HP iPAQ 111 Classic HandHeld PDA (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?product_code=FA979AA%23ABA&aoid=35252).
I can't imagine that you would be able to read very much on a screen this size ( 240 x 320 pixels ).

At church, I vary between taking my UMPC or HP Ipaq 4700. Bibles are very good on either unit. Either unit might work very well for your needs with Word. You could even keep your notes as part of the electronic Bible. If you must have a single page view, you will certainly need a TPC.
