I've read through a lot of the posts detailing running Vista on a TC1100 but was curious what everyone's opinion was now that Vista has matured a little bit and the initial excitement has dissipated. I've got a 1ghz model with 1gb RAM for references purposes, would you recommend upgrading to Vista/Office '07 or sticking with XPT and '03?

Hello wev162,

To Vista or not to Vista probably has a lot to do with how you use your machine. If you do a lot of inking then you will probably appreciate Vista.

To move to Office 2007 or not is almost a separate issue and a visit to Microsoft's site for Office is probably a good place to start

I run Vista on all my Tablet PCs including a couple of TC1100s (both with 1.5 gigs of RAM) and I would *not* go back. I use the TC1100s without a keyboard 99% of the time and Vista works very well for me and is an improvement over Windows XP Tablet PC Edition for the way I work.

Thanks for the reply. I use inking almost exclusively, what improvements have you noticed that point you firmly towards Vista? I've heard the inking is trainable, does this significantly increase accuracy and speed?

Excuse me for stepping in but, yes, the ink is trainable and for me the recognition is better by a mile with Vista. And that's without taking into account the other tablet enhancements in Vista. I say this with some certainty as I've just had to revert to XP to satisfy a corporate IT policy and it really brings home how much better Vista is. If you don't need the SD card or have apps that won't run under Vista I can't recommend it enough.
