I have an Acer C300 with no keyboard. I am trying to run it off an external display (a basic Dell monitor capable of 1024x768). I cannot push the FN-F5 (obviously because I have no keyboard). I tried the Acer utility to change the display settings to external monitor, and the basic Windows desktop settings to activate external monitor. But nothing will get it to send a signal to the external monitor. It is as if you have to push the FN-F5 before any of these soft switches work? I even tried the onscreen keyboard pushing FN-F5 and this didn't work. Even went into bios and tried to change this to "both" but nothing. Is it possible the external output is fried?

Try using Intel Extreme control panel to select dual display cloning. You may need to restart and/or power up external display connected to get recognized.

I tried updating the drivers to the latest version from Intel. I checked bios and set it to output to both display devices at botup (vs. auto). But still I get nothing. I go into the Intel control panel and it shows Notebook and nothing else. It says that I have to connect another device for it to be recognized. I unplugged and plugged the monitor and it doesn't recognize it. It could be that the VGA out in the back is bad but that is very suspicious. Obviously it would be easy if I could just hit the FN-F5 but without the built in keyboard this is not easy!! If anyone knows where I can get a replacement keyboard for less than the $100 I have found them for online that would be great also!
