Blue checkerboard

Hi,

I've got a TC1100 that has recently started showing garbled character output and a blue checkerboard pattern on screen from boot up onwards. This laptop went out of warranty in Aug so I cant easily get support from HP. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks!

This is a known problem -- search the forum and you'll find that others have experienced it as well. Unfortunately, it seems the cure is having the computer repaired by HP.

Yea I had seen reports about it being a cold solder joint in the video card but was hoping other people might have found a solution. Any guess how much this would cost me to get fixed out of warranty by HP? Thanks!
