I'm a Realtor in Orlando and have been wanting a Tablet PC for a LONG while.

I initially ordered through Lenovo/IBM as there was link from the NAR site to save money.

However, the estimated ship date was far too long for me.

I searched for a decent configuration online and found it at CDW:

http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1301953

I should have it end of this week. :)

Is there anything else I need or would be a "nice to have"? I ordered software already.

I build my own PC's and am A+ certified (as if that means anything) but this is my 1st Tablet PC.

Hoping it works smoothly out of the box.

Any tips/hints/tricks at all being totally new to Tablets?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Dean

That's a great configuration at a great price.

Does anyone know if it's possible to add extra warranty coverage if you purchase the laptop from a third party? I am getting the accidental damage coverage for 3 years following some incidents with my Fujitsu T4020D.

If I am not mistaken, that configuration is NOT a tablet pc.
The X61 is also available as a very small and light normal notebook.
As far as I know, the X61T or X61 Tablet is not available with a C2D 2.2GHz. Only the low voltage versions (originally 1.6 GHz, I believe now also 1.7GHz).

So, if you are really looking for a tablet pc, then you might want to cancel that order.

You're right- I replied, but wasn't logged in.

I ordered the regular laptop by mistake!

CDW and the rep was very easy to work with. I swapped it out for the x61 TABLET, they pay for shipping back and will FedEx over night the Tablet.

Couldn't be more satified with the CDW reps service and I'm in the service industry.

Seems there are a lot of 1400x1050 Tablets out there on various sites including Amazon. Since my use is primarily for presentation to other people a couple feet away that woon't work for me.

Finding a 2GB Memory with 1024x768 without a lot of extra stuff thrown in was tough. The unit I ended up getting was # 7767B7U.

$1999.

Added Targus external CD/DVD that got good reviews off amazon and runs usb only. I shouldn't need it much.

Also, interestingly - I called Lenovo regarding three different manufacturer's #'s for 3yr accidental protection service.

The Lenoovo rep told me they were all the same, but he didn't seem too sure.

The CDW rep told me of the 3 only 1 had accident protection- though all three specifically stated accidental protection.

CDW had it for $179. Lenovo had it for $239. Same manufactuer's number.

Ended up adding $464 to get the Tablet over the laptop with 3yr Accidental Protection. For me- it's well worth it.

PC Connection had the unit in as well at the same price, but didn't offer the same accessories.

I could have gotten a 1GB model and added memory, but just didn't want to have to deal with that.
