I'm lost. I have Tecra M4 without a working cd-drive. The hard disk totally crashed this week so I bought a new HD and external DVD-burner today... All was going well but Of course the sob-externaldvddrive doesn't boot my xp cd!

All I have now is my girlfriend's laptop& one external hard disk of hers which I can boot to, but I don't have any idea what to put there. I've searched all the boot disks in the internet and they all require Floppy disk drives - and no one has these nowadays! I got to have my laptop running tomorrow, and I don't have desktop pc and no cable to do any network booting either... So does anyone have idea what exactly I should put into that external hard disk - I tried to copy my XP-cd into it but it just gives me "missing ntldr" or if i copy that file there, just black screen.. Would help to get into a dos prompt and then try with usbaspi drivers to get into that external usb-drive, but nothing seems to work - does the external hd have to be FAT? and if so, I've never heard of any software which can make NTSF to FAT...

I'm so sad and frustrated, anyone, anything???

Thank you...

I got myself forward in this issue ; I made myself a $TOSFD00.VFD image file to the SD card where I put all the usb drivers.. I forgot that these toshiba's need an image file on the bootSD called exactly like that.

...formatting the hard disk right now.. Does anyone know where I could upload that image for others to use..?

Did you get Xp to install successfully using this method? If so, please write up a little guide and I can host that and the image file on my site.
