Recently I try to install on my LE1600 drivers from LE1700 and they run sucesfuly from days by now.
The following drivers are 100% compatible:
- motion dashboard
- virtual businnes card
- motion dataguard
- and omnipass. Here I try to update my omnipass ver 5.00.13 to 5.00.53 and they don't allow me to do it, so I uninstall my old version (registered) and I put the new one (30 day trial). Of course I have been unhappy with that and I have replace setup.exe from old version to new one and... voila, new omnipass ver 5.00.53 no trial.
The features of these drivers:
- the screen light will dimm automaticaly after 15, 30.... sec of inactivity (user defined).
- new hdd monitor on system tray and battery health.
- aded virtual bussines card on bootscreen in case of your tablet it's lost.
- better control of security and settings, etc.
Today I will try TMP, button and graphic drivers (modded of course) and I will let you know.
Sorry for my bad english.

I tried upgrading my registered Omnipass 5.00.13 and it did not work with replacing the setup.exe file from the registered to the full version. I need that virtual business card app.

For me its Vista. All drivers work fine except I was unable to register my Omnipass. So I had to reinstall 5.00.13

does motion dataguard actually work on LE1600 meaning does the LE1600 have an accelerometer for the hardisk?

Thanks email sent. Also I would like to show you all the 2GB RAM Upgrade i did to my LE1600. Now it has a total of 2.5GB RAM. I also upgraded it to 300mbps Wireless N. I also just added a 16GB CF SSD. http://www.sparklan.com/product_details.php?prod_id=174
Enjoy. I think our LE1600's are going to be awesome.
Oh yea dont forget to apply AS5 to your processors!
Oh yes i am going to test Unreal Tournament 3 on my fully upgraded LE1600.

Nuclear,
Very interested in your upgrades and what is AS5.

Oops almost forgot to post the pictures of the 2GB upgrade. Anyways as you all know there is 512MB onboard fixed memory and 1 expansion slot. I took out the 1GB RAM out of the expansion slot and put in a 2GB DDR2 660mhz stick. But in the bios and vista it only shows 2GB for some reason.... >.< it should show 2.5GB since +512mb onboard :S Anyways i also upgraded to wireless N. Weird thing is that Wireless N card has 3 antenna connectors. Our regular abg cards have only 2 connectors. still i figured out where the AUX and MAIN cables go so the wireless n card works but i never really checked it out with a wireless n router. it claims its speed of 300mbps really fast wifi. i get the white colour indicator light and everything is functional. atheros drivers etc etc.
AS5 is Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound applied on the processors and then the heatsink is placed on it. It keeps low temperatures. A very good solution to keeping the LE1600 a bit cooler.

Ah i got a reply from Sparklan the wireless n card manufacturer. they said you can plug in the two antennas at any of the 3 connectors and the card will still work. you dont need 3 antennas.

Yes it is a little hard to upgrade video memory. But you will need to desolder the builtin Intel graphics chip with a Weller iron. Then you can put something good in its place. A lot of stuff is on the market for replacement.
Processor upgrade would be nice. I dont think it can support Core 2 Duo or Centrino Duo Core. I think it can just go max on Centrino probably a 2.6 ghz but then you will need a better cooling solution too.
Sorry but i will have to open my LE1600 again to give you a proper answer. I got those ribbons connected with a lot of difficulty. So i need some time to take pictures etc. Oh yea and the omnipass didnt work. I am sticking with 5.00.13

Alright i opened the le1600 again to its processor. Just a warning the processor cannot be upgraded and neither can the video card. You need special processor desoldering equipment to do this work which will probably cost a lot of $$$. The video chip cannot be upgraded either. Both are soldered onto the board. The RAM is also soldered but easily upgradable to 2GB if you can desolder it :P So now you can have a total of 4GB RAM if you have desoldering skills.

Hi Guys,
can you tell me if newer 1700 drivers (video) allow for Mirror Display? Currently, I went back to XP for that single feature and would love to get back to vista but need Mirror display to work when connecting to external monitor/projector.
Thanks--Sanca.

You can't mirror the display by opening the Motion dashboard?

Sanca- I will try the new drivers. I run Vista and I too cannot get the tablet to mirror, all I can do is extend it. I will let you know.

Admin--no, it does not give me that option when in Vista. On Xp, yes.
BStoker--thanks. I am dying to go back to Vista but would love that function since I present quite a bit. If ther driver does not fix that, wonder if there is other software that will allow us to do that? thanks again for checking.

the 1700 video drivers will not install for me on my 1600. There is a newer Vista driver for the 1600 out there but I havent had a chance to try it out yet.

I went back to vista and tried the 1700 dashboard drivers and now I have the clone options. I also sent support an email and they confirm that clone feature works with 1600. give the dashboard for 1700 a try and let me know.

"Oh yes i am going to test Unreal Tournament 3 on my fully upgraded LE1600."
How did that work out for you then? I don't think the LE1600 really has the graphical power for that. I'd love to try getting World of Warcraft going on it though :D

And how much could you upgrade it to? I dont play Unreal tournament 3 on my le1600.

What memory stick brand/type did you use to upgrade the 1600? I've only found one place that sells a 2gb stick and that was Newegg. Most places I've found sell 2 one gb sticks which will equal 2gb. Obviously I don't want that. Know where I can get a 2gb stick?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :biggrin1:

neophyte question here. i'm assuming the drivers for the 1700 only work in vista, is this correct? or will it work w/ xp?
can you guys confirm how much faster the le1600 runs with added ram?
for 2.5gb.
interested in this but thought i read that the machine doesn't utilize it for some reason.
also how hard is it to de-solder? if it works why not go for the full 4gb?
