Good day.
Two problems, solving one will solve the other and vv.
a) pen drivers do not install on NT4 German SP1 / SP6a :-(
b) lost my NT4 original images where everything was working :-(
I intend to sell my 3400, however in the course of experimenting with this fine thing in the past months, I lost my images of the original NT4 installation that was on it when I got it.
So, back to the lab and install from sratch: The original license key is on the rear, however my german NT4 installation CD (found covered by an inch of dust) appears corrupted. Some three files cannot be copied during setup, one MFC32u.dll which I managed to download separately, and one file realted to ATI (graphics I presume, but not needed on here). And a third File I didn't recognize. Now, NT4 starts fine, audio, lan, modem drivers can be installed, but I cannot get the pen drivers to install.
Tried the 3400 drivers and also the 3500, but right-clicking the .inf and choosing "install" gives no results, no message, no pen device in control panel, nothing. It seems it simply not "happens". The instructions I found only describe how to install the same driver under w2k (Where we have a nice device manager), or replace drivers already installed on NT4, but I could not find anything about installing from scratch.
So, hints appreciated.
How do I trigger a .inf setup from the command line to see what actually happens / fails? A log anywhere?
Or, a driver package with a working "setup.exe" or from-scratch-instructions.
Or, a recovery CD / full image for these 3400 units with NT4 (german or english) and fully installed drivers.
Or, someone who want to buy the unit, ext. FDD, Docking station, PS2 keyboard, car charger, pen, some spare screen protectors, hand/shoulder bag, and maybe a W-lan pcmcia card even if the pen driver is not installed.
The display / digitizer is working, btw, had the thing running 2x, XP-TE, various flavours of linux with fpit driver, so it is not a hardware thing.
Anyone any of the above?
Cheers
