Yes I did and had the same problem as you.

Unfortuantly I can't rember how I fixed it. The bios definatly took?

Sorry.

On a brighter note is was 'O.K' with 1 gig of ram.

I'm running Vista Ultimate on my M1300 w/ 1.5GB ram. If I recall correctly, you cannot install Vista from within Windows because of the bios problem. Do update the bios first, though. Then restart the tablet with the disc in a bootable dvd drive. You may have to adjust your bios settings to set the boot order to the DVD drive before the hard drive. For whatever reason my tablet didn't show the DVD drive in the bios. In order to boot from it I used the pen to right click on the first screen that comes up when starting the pc (the white Motion Computing screen) and selected the DVD drive. The computer should then say "press any key to boot from disc" so press any key and continue the installation of Vista. This may not be exact as this is from my memory, but it should lead you in the right direction to getting it installed. This is only for a clean install so make sure you have backed up any needed data from the tablet. I'm not sure how to do a dual install if that was what you were wanting but I think it could probably be done relatively easily if you partition the hard drive when still running XP. Hope this helps.
