Hi guys,
Well... I understand that the multitouch screen isn't working with linux yet.
I was wondering if anyone can give me some more specific information on the technology behind the multitouch, and tell me whether or not an idea of mine might be made to work.
Are the active digitiser panel and the (capacitive?) touch panel separate Wacom tablets?
I understand that when the tablet is used under windows, the active digitiser takes preference over the touch screen, and only one of them can be used at a time.
Is this a result of the hardware of the actual device, or is this because this is how windows has been programmed to respond?
The main thing I'd like to be able to do, is to be able to configure the pen to act as a left-click, and a finger touch to act as a middle-click.
I'm not talking about simultaneous use, just being able to switch from pen in one hand to finger of the other, and have each act as a different click.
With the middle click set to scroll, you'd be able to write and draw with the pen, and simply slide your hand over the page to scroll around the work area.
This would really make the tablet heaps more useable, I feel.
At first I was disappointed when I realised I probably wouldn't be able to get an SXGA+, because I thought I needed the resolution, but being able to quickly and intuitively scroll like this, you'd be able to work within a much bigger 'virtual' area.
Also, if anyone has any information on attempts to get the multitouch working under linux, please let me know.
