Fan issue on M400

Hello,
I recently purchaed a Portege M400 runnng Vista...and of course it has the standard issue where the fan is always on on max and isn't affected by any bios or software settings.

Anyways....has there been any new updates on potential way way to fix this problem while still running vista.

There is no new fix for it. We, like you, are all waiting for a version of the BIOS that has the fan fix, Vista, and Widescreen support. There is a new version (3.60) available on the Toshiba website, but it only states that it adds support for Microsoft Virual PC 2007. I haven't tried it yet (about to) so I don't know whether the fan fix is a 'silent' inclusion...

EDIT: Loaded the new BIOS, doesn't seem to have fixed the fan... :-(

Isn't it unbelievable?

It appears from my CS experience, nobody at Toshiba has ever even used that device to understand its shortcomings.

I sold it and bought a Lenovo X60.
Sure I'll miss the internal DVDRW, and stereo speakers.

but my machine runs quiet, and is considerably smaller.
those are my proiorities.

its a shame toshiba CAN work on issues for their machine but for some reason have not.
