View Full Version : general questions about my new m200

Hi,
I bought the M200 this week and while I already enjoy working with it a lot, I still have some questions that I hope you can answer (I have read the FAQ several times):

1) While I was finally able to create a bootable image for the SD card that can read from my external USB hard drive and the CD/DVD drive, I still can't read my ordinary USB sticks under DOS. Also, I still lack NTFS support. Does anybody have an image ready with the necessary files so USB sticks and/or NTFS partitions can be used?

2) On this page (http://tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16600&whichpage=1) it says to go to laptopvideo2go.com (http://www.laptopvideo2go.com) and for the M200. I did this, got the latest driver for XP32 (v165.01) and changed the RotateFlage entry (1 occurrence). However, when trying to update the driver manually, I could not find the right model number (Geforce FX Go5200). But there were two entries of the FX 5200, as well as one Go 6200 and one Go 7600.
So, which is the latest driver I can use? Could I also download the drivers from Nvidia directly and edit that .inf file? Is there any new information since the thread about the drivers has been started (2004)?

2b) Also, I googled for "Toshiba Rotation Utility" and found a newer version (4.00.00.07) than on the Toshiba Support page (3.00.00.03). Can I use newer version for the M200 or will that cause problems?

3) I remember that, during my research for the M200, I read that the pens are actually made by another company which sells them much cheaper. Sadly I can't remember which company that was (something with "W"?). Is it true that the pens don't last that long and is there another (inexpensive) pen that I can buy so that I only use the one from Toshiba on the road?

4) With F2 I can select the device to boot from - but how can I enter the setup (for a boot password, etc)???

Thank you for your time!

Kind regards
Markus

1. booting from SD card is like booting from a floppy. I was going to suggest sysinternals' ntfsdos package, but it seems microsoft bought them and took ntfsdos away. *cries*

2. did you download the updated INF file for mobile chipsets?
go back and look. You need 2 things: the driver, and the modified inf file.

2b. ? I do not know.

3. Wacom is the tablet company.www.wacom.com

4. Erp.......I think it is delete, but hopefully someone else will chime in.

quote:3. Wacom is the tablet company.www.wacom.comAhh, yeah, that was it! Now the only question is which models work and where I can get them. I have tried ebay, I found some there but don't know if they are all compatible.

Another question: I'm having trouble using the pen button as right mouse button. Is there any trick to have the button react faster/better or is my pen, because I bought the M200 used, just worn out? Holding the pen also goes to right click, but since I use it a lot, the faster the better.

Before you touch the screen, press and hold the button. Then, while holding the button, touch the screen. This should give you a right-click.

so, I believe that all of the graphire pens are out, but all of the citinq pens are in.

I may be wrong tho, I have the cross pen for wacom tablets and have not needed a new one yet.

About the different Wacom pens, T Lewis had some tips about this here.
