i was looking at a few threads and saw people talking about getting the buttons to work but no details were posted

ok look at this picture:

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaM200/LCD_disassembly/big/Toshiba-Portege-M200-digitizer-03.jpg

the lowest button on that screen does a ctrl + alt + del which from what i read is normal... but the button above it does nothing (im guessing it is the screen rotate button)

the little directional controller button does nothing if you push it in a direction but if you push it down for a few seconds it brings up Windows Mobility Center. i can then move around in mobility center with the joystick.

i downloaded a utility called TBSbtnSt.exe and it writes an ini file to the disk that remaps the buttons.

right now it only has Button1 and Button2 labeled.

[Button1]
ID = 187
Function = TAssist

[Button2]
ID = 186
Function = Presentation

i was wondering how i could remap these buttons or in the very least how i could get the screen rotation button to work. i downloaded the utility to auto rotate when i flip it down but it would be nice to flip it back with a single button if i wasnt using it as a tablet but playing something like solitaire in tablet mode.

I installed the stock Vista drivers for the M400 and my screen rotation works fine.

see: http://mobilepcwiki.org/mpc/index.php?title=Toshiba/M200/Windows_Vista_Installation_Notes

That is, if I leave the base flat on a table and rotate the screen, it flips into portrait mode.

If I am holding it upright in any orientation, then press and hold the rotation button, the screen automatically orients itself to suit the way I am holding it.

Have you tried the second approach - hold the machine in slate mode, then press and hold the rotation button.

Go to the Toshiba Europe site: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp and select Vista downloads for the M200. There will be one you're missing (Value added packages, utilities etc) that will make the buttons go. For some reason, the US site doesn't list Vista downloads for the M200...
