Can you use the ST5030 with an external keyboard and mouse with out a dock? It has 2 usb ports. I am thinking of getting one with an otterbox case in my shop but I dont want to shell out the money for a dock.

Thanks. My next question is, How is this unit? There does not seem to be much in the way of reviews for this. I am considering it for 2 reasons: 1. It can be had on ebay from the fujitsu store for under $700. 2. I can get an otterbox to make it dustproof for my workplace.

be really carefull on ebay I got scammed once already Read the feedback for EVERY purchase. Their new rating system is biased tward sellers. also make sure the buyers protection from paypal isnt less than you are spending or you will see they arent such a pal. ignore the ones that say 200$ in protection i think thats the minimum. I am now looking into a 4120 Im here trying to see if the processor can be upgraded at all.

I picked one up from the Fujitsu store on ebay so I should be alright there.
Next question, can I use any USB external cd/dvd rom for this unit?

In general yes most should work. I've used 3 different ones on my Fujitsu ST4110 TPC.

Some tablets are funny about which DVDs they will boot from so if you think that will be a need then consider getting a Fujitsu one. Otherwise any will do.

F: For what it's worth, I've owned both an ST4120 and an ST5022 slate. I used an HP DVD-300e optical drive with both slates without any problems. John is correct that some brands tend to be a bit finicky regarding what brand of optical drive that they will boot from, but Fujitsu doesn't appear to be one of those brands!

My experience suggests that you can probably purchase the drive of your choice.

Good luck!
