Has anyone tried this? I was thinking since I am just using mine for home automation and don't need a large HDD that it would be better. I know that it will produce less heat, draw less power and be quieter than a HDD. If I do this could I install Win2K on it,(it is claimed with an adapter the bios will see it as a IDE drive)? Are there any problems forseen with this setup?

I don't have a lot of specific experience, but I'm certainly interested in the result.

I have read that CF drives are 'worn out' by writing to them, so if you can arrange for temporary and log files to be written to a ramdisk, that might help. I don't know about this in W2k - I could do it in <=Win98 or Linux, so I can't help directly with it.

Do please post what you find out as you go.
