I've just started using the wireless on my tc1100. after i switched it on the new hardware wizard popped up looking for, i think, a bluetooth driver though i only want to use wifi at the moment. The internet connection is working well but when i ask it to look for a driver on the net nothing happens, so i started again and cancelled it.

Sorry i know nothing about drivers. There is obviously a problem as it now sometimes grinds to a halt.

i downloaded sp34489 (though it said it was for 2200 rather than 2100) from hp\support. but when i run it it gets as far as saying
c:\swsetup\sp34489A>start /wait sintall.exe
then nothign more happens. If i try to run sinstall.exe on its own nothing happens except that it sometimes grinds to a halt. Should I do anything such as disable/uninstall wireless before trying to install the driver, or can anyone suggest anything else?

Is there a file in
c:\swsetup\sp34489A>

called setup.exe or install.exe

Try it.

Thanks, yes, when I ran the original download there were instuctions saying that the install program should automatically run, and that's where the
c:\swsetup\sp34489A>start /wait sinstall.exe
(typo in my original message) comes from. The instructions said if it did not run, then run the sinstall.exe. So i have tried running both but nothing seems to happen.

Every time i reboot the hardware wizard says new hardware, and then goes to look for a bluetooth driver. I let it run and eventually it found something on the net, but the installer advised against installing it (unsigned/unapproved or something?), and as i was afraid of making things worse i didn't run it.

The bluetooth driver is sp28427. Try running that one.

That seems to have fixed the problem, many thanks.
