I'm trying this out, and have one major problem. When I try to access the toolbar, it pops up way at the top of my screen and half hidden; so I can only see the bottom row of icons, and can't get at the pen settings icons. I've tried dragging it, tried messing with my display settings, and nothing works.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? (Sent an email to them, but haven't heard back yet). Without the toolbar, the program is all but useless, and I'd really like to be able to make use of my trial period.

Having not tried RitePen for myself, I can't tell you what might have caused it, but you could try to change the screen orientation. Chas should cause the window for the toolbar to redraw inside the screen foundry, at least in part. You could then move it to center screen, change the orientation back,& go from there.
If that doesn't do the trick, your should reboot. Windows won't normally launch a window outside the screen bounds at boot.
Good luck!

Thanks for trying to help, caltain. Unfortunately, neither changing orientation nor rebooting do the trick either. So I'm still stuck trying to write with a way too thick pen tip, etc. I hope the program support people respond to my email.

I have found their tech support very prompt, at least on the week days. In the meantime, it would not hurt to to uninstall and reinstall.

Well, I tried uninstalling and re-installing, and then starting in landscape mode, just in case it didn't like portrait. Didn't help.
But, then I tried moving my taskbar back down to the bottom, and sure enough, that was it! I guess the program just isn't used to us tableteers who like the taskbar on top and the TIP on bottom. :D
Well, at least now I can give it a real try, and see how it compares to write anywhere.

I'm also evaluating this software, and my tentative conclusion is it's not quite ready for prime time. What's bugging me at this point is that about 10-15% of my ink strokes disappear from the screen in the brief time between inking and recognition. I don't have this problem at all with Write Anywhere, so I doubt it has anything to do with the way I'm holding the pen. In defense of Ritepen, the recognition is generally accurate even though a bunch of the ink has disappeared. But it is disconcerting and distracting not to know, in the brief period before recognition occurs, that I have written what I intended to write.
I'd be interested to hear whether anyone else is having this problem.
