hi people - first posting lots of good info here... looks like my tc1000 has a dead memory slot so im thinking of upgrading the internal stick. trouble is I cant work out what the exact spec is? Can anyone please give me the proper spec, is it 512mb DDR 200mhz soDimms? If someone has a manufacturer code that would be even better

Many thanks, Kevin

P.S. couldn't do a search. . .

Hey kevin, check out this site - http://81.5.185.34/tc-one-thousand/upgrades.html#TC1000-Memory -, I have a TC1100, and I found it extremely handy when Iw as looking to upgrade the RAM - as you'll see there's specs, pictures and instructions on how to do it.

To answer your question: "The base TC1000 unit has an empty memory slot under the top-left cover (viewed from the back) where a maximum of 512MB PC133 SODIMM module can be plugged in. Those units that shipped with 512MB will have a 256MB SODIMM module in the slot - to upgrade you must first remove the 256MB module and replace it with a 512MB module."

O, and search feature was done for a while.

thx - i did use that site but also have a great pdf from compaq which give step by step line drawings and description.

i did the operation and it was a success, like people say you have to strip it right down. i now have 512mb on the internal slot (kingston) which is faster anyway. upgrade slot still not working but couldnt see anything physically wrong.

i would like to try 1gb on the internal slot but not sure if it would be recognised, that would be sweet! :D
