I acquired an older model # FMW2902 which isn't working correctly. When on charger, the top 3 status lights on the upper left of the unit are on (power, charging, HDD access) and that's it. No amount of poking the suspend/resume button results in any change. Possibly I need to hit the reset button?

Also, when I hooked up a lcd monitor, it gave a 'no sync' message.

Thanks!

Steve

Edit: Well, reset did jack for it. Any suggestions? Wrong forum?

Right Forum...

This is the only simple thing I can think of to try. Disconnect all power including the battery and remove the hard drive. Then plug the LT back in to AC and see if the computer will post. If it does you probably have a bad HD.

When its just plugged in it should only have the charging LED lit. It could be many different things wrong from a bad HD to power button to motherboard, etc. It would be hard to tell without having it in hand and with such an old TS its probably not worth paying someone to fix. Sorry for the bad news...

Did you try starting it with just the battery? Maybe a bad AC adapter? Do you have any LEDs with just the battery? Even for a second if the battery is shot or not charged.

Yes, w/o charger I get green power and HDD LEDs.

Removed HD, and it goes into setup ok. Anyone with a good HD for sale?

I've heard of people putting in up to a 60gig HD in a LTC-500. I have a 40gig in one of mine, as long as its the same thickness you should be alright. Don't lose the HD connector cable, they're very hard to find.

Now more bad news... Do you have a Fujitsu Dock and Fujitsu Floppy drive, the LTC-500 won't boot from anything other than the floppy and HD?

Does it take a SATA or IDE 2.5 HD? I'm looking at the HD's at computergeeks.com, most seem to be 8MB. I'm not sure I want to dump $60+ into such an old tablet. Anyone with a good used HD for sale? Contact me offline at stevebmwcca@yahoo.com
