I had my trusty old M200 and my long suffering 17" wide screen A20 were unceremoniously flogged several weeks ago. Fortunately they were insured but the Assessor is being a right royal proverbial.

I can only hope they will actually honour the terms of the insurance policy which is new for old which should be a new M200 and a new P100.

Oh and before you ask - yes they were secured by cables. The M200 was locked in the dock by a combination lock - so they broke the dock. The A20 was secured by a keyed lock. They trashed the house to find the key, which they eventually found in a bedroom cupboard. So if you do have a security cable do not keep the key in the house.

And the question about backup - yes I backed up the wide screen to the M200 and visa versa!

They also took my brand new Canon 400D DSLR camera. So much for this years Christmas photos.

Yikes! That's awful! Good luck with getting insurance to pay off as they should. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Good news. I am tying this on my brand new M400.
- T2400 1.83G core duo
- 1G ram
- BT
- Wifi
- 1400x1050
- 80G HDD
No optical drive :(

I fully expected the M200 replacement but I'm not complaining.

As for the 17" wide screen the P100 should be on its way this week. It looks like they are getting me the new Vista model with the 2G ram 200G HDD, core 2 duo and 7900GTX with 512 ded mem. They tried to supply the Satellite pro but when I pointed the lack of remote control they went back to the drawing board.

It has taken them a long time to get around to supplying the replacements but it has really been a blessing in disguise. The new P100 range was released here a couple of weeks ago so I am able to get one of the new models.

I am sitting up in bed as I write this :) I have to say I love this little tablet. I was really missing my M200 - no more.

Ordered the Vista UG the same day. Not sure yet whether I will install it or wait. Still thinking about it.

Congratulatons Yanis.

It reads like your insurors really stepped up to the spirit of the policy.

Enjoy.

Thanks for that.

Just received news that they approved the P100 and they are expecting it to ship this week.

Have been thinking.... What if I swap one 1G from the P100 with a 512 from the M400? That would be 1.5G each. Would that should be sufficient to run Vista?

Yanis,

I don't know if the memory will 'fit' or be swappable but Vista runs very nicely with 1.5 gig. (not bad at 1.0 gig either)

Just checked - "PA 3411U-2M1G - Toshiba DDR2-400/533 1GB Memory module" on the spec sheet for both units.

I know I swapped the mem back and forth between the M200 and the old A20 at will without a problem. came in handy at times.
