is the Scribbler a good tablet PC for me?

I have been using the cintiq 18x for some time now and really want
to purchase a pc tablet for traveling. From reading it seems maybe the scribbler is my best bet. Anyone agree or disagree? And if so what do you suggest and why? I use my cintiq primarily for painter and alias sketch book pro. So i am looking for a tablet pc that uses the wacom certified technology. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Scribbler 3100 has a wide angle screen. You can read it even when flat or from an angle. The 12" screen is nice and the battery lasts longer than any other TPC. The one I am using is a 1.6 CPU with 1256 Ram. The HW is extremely responsive with this much ram and seems to be more accurate. I don't know that RAM has anything to do with "Accuracy?" Bottom line is that for a "traveling," tablet, this could be your ticket, if you are willing to buy an expensive book.

I am suspicious of this guy - I think he is a plant for electrovaya because nomatter what anybody posts he says something positive about scribbler. My experiences with scribbler have been nightmarish!

No plant edo, just a satisfied user. Feel free to visit my office if you or anyone is in my area. Notice I did not say elated. EV has problems, the same ones as all other vendors. I hear horror stories about their tech support, but I have not had any technical problems per say. Nightmares no doubt occur, but in my experience there is always two sides to every story. Scribbler simply has the longest battery life on the market and that is why I use it combined with the comparatively light weight. I've been using sundry TPCs in my office all day 5 days a week since 1986.

I have a Scribbler 2200, and have not had any problems either. Yes, the fan is a bit noisy with CPU intense applications. But I have had it for 2.5 years and crossed the Pacific at least once a month and it still works, unlike my friend's viao laptop.

The doctor is not the only one.

Well I am happy you guys have been luckier than I have - I just had to have my mother board replaced and I am on fourth battery. The batteries seem to fail totally in 6 months or less. This last time I actually spoke with a product manager who I must say was very accomodating although it still cost a pretty penny to replace the motherboard.

My 2200 battery is down to 3 hours but it is 2-3 years old now and not trashable just yet.

Are we talking continuous use or are we talking going into hybernation several times throughout the day?

Continuous use. I can't hibernate or standby because I will lose my network connection to the database I use all day.

addendum: The battery is now trashable even though it last a couple of hours because: When it does run out, it gives no warning and just shuts down my computer, corrupting my files.

That is exactly what happens to mine. Once the battery goes which is usually within less than 6 months (which, by the way is all electrovaya warantees them for) it does "poof" goes out - no warning - nothing. And this usually occurs within minutes of unplugging the power cord which means it is essentially holding no charge whatsoever. I'm not meaning to come off as a weiner here but let's face it for a compnay that touts batteries as their forte and all the hype about scribbler having the long-lasting abtteries this is somewhat surprising is it not?

All batteries are ONLY warrantied for 6-12 months tops that I know of. That certainly does not speak highly for the battery industry.
Wouldn't you know EV is out of stock!!!

My experience with Electrovaya tech support was not good. Shortly after buying my 2010 the screen cover/keyboard's clips broke off so it no longer held up the tablet. After over an hour on the phone I was told that the keyboard was not covered under the warranty and if I wanted a new one I would need to buy it. My new tablet is a Fujitsu, as I am not willing to buy from Electrovaya again.
