You have several options and i did some quick checking for you. I just had to buy one for myself (i sold the docking and dvd/cd-rw with the tc1000)for my new docking station. Check these options out:

For dvd/cdrw: good for puting movies onto the tablet and burning cds
http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-Compaq-DVD-CDRW-24X-24X-24X-8X-TC1000-TC1100-TABLET_W0QQitemZ6864168680QQcategoryZ39980QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem

I got mine from (dvd/cdrw)
http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/tech4less
keyword: DC364B <--- part number
$65 shipped (and very fast)
they seem to be out right now (which happened to me)

Ebay does have multibay cdroms just make sure they are compatible.

If you live in the Bay area Cali....you could use mine

good luck

Most of the docking stations use the standard multibay drives. Just make sure it is not a multibay II since they are smaller 9.5mm drives and a little bit harder to find/more expensive

I've just been trying to restore my tc1100 with the recovery disks in a usb CD drive. Disk 1 loads all the drivers and says ""Starting Windows", then "A problem has been detected...shutdown..etc". Do i need to use a docking station or do you think this is a is this a different problem?

I have the exact same problem, and no solution as yet. My machine came with HP restore CDs but no CDROM drive, so I don't have the drivers to use the HP CDROMs with my (non-HP) external CDROM drive.

I suspect this is a very common problem, does anyone have a solution?

I did try installing standard XP Pro but have the same problem as shown above.
