Hi
Just bought a M200 from eBay... wise i know, but it looked like a bargain. Now apart from the power cable missing (lucky i have another M200!) there is a password on boot up. When i tested the the PC, it was already booted (or just hibernating) so i did not see that it was password protected.
Anyway, can't get hold of the seller (glad i collected in person!) and want to reset the password. I assumed there was a reset somewhere but i can't find it.
Anyone know how i can reset?
Cheers
Tom

Thanks, yep i searched in detail. The only posting that looked remotely useful had been editied because a forum user felt it was not good for the community to know how to get past the bios password.
The problem is not the windows password, it's the bios password.
Thanks
Tom

Thanks... I did spend a good fair while searching google before posting here.

My take is that you will not be able to reset the machine. If you can not obtain the password, the only alternative for you is to reformat and start over. I assume the seller gave you the recovery DVD as well.

has someone actually tried one of those backdoors passwords mentioned in the links by kupe? I was wondering if they actually work, before going to ebay and buying a locked machine. thanks!

I have used the BIOS back doors before and it is hit and miss on some of them. Theya are programmed in by the mfgr so they can access the PC if it is ever sent in for maint. If its a windows xp or vista PW, then you are usually SOL unless you can get ahold of winternals or other windows PW cracking programs.
Another alternative for the BIOS PW is to remove the underside of the tablet and disconnect the BIOS battery.
