Any news yet on second generation toshiba?

It will probably have the 1.6GHz Centrino and hopefully the battery life will be like the R100 which gets 6.8 hrs. How about a docking port too. Mabie some of the stuff off of the M1 combo eraser head and touch pad with scroller. Better speakers? DVD?

I would be happy with a cooler/longer running machine and the centrino will do that. If you look at the 2100 all they did was add cetnrino to get it to the R100. With the smaller number of units sold that is probably all that we can hope for. My guess would be Centrino only with all the benifits that it gives.

>>It will probably have the 1.6GHz Centrino<<

Using a 900 MHz Centrino (equivalent to 1.4) would hopefully allow the Toshiba the increased battery life it so desperately needs.

I'm definitely waiting to play with one this time.

I won't buy one if they use a crappy integrated video chipset and crappy drivers.

Any cursor lag slow downs = no buy a Toshiba.

@Edwood:

Is this Trident graphic adapter really that crappy?
I considered to wait for second generation but now they did an impressive prize drop on the Toshiba here (dropped around 1000,-€ or 1100,-$)and I really hate the design of the Acer so I won´t get lucky with the new Centrino unit.
I played with the Tosh at Cebit a few minutes and I love it´s casing, the display etc. The idea of waiting another 3 months for Toshiba second gen. is driving me nuts.... :(

The Trident driver is acceptable for most "office" uses, but if you get into 3D rendering or modeling, the lack of OpenGL support and minimal memory become a real problem. Very Slow and Inaccurate. If I could replace the card, I would.

I'm comparing TPCs trying to decide which one to buy. I'm definitely going with the Centrino (for power & battery). I noticed that Toshiba came out with a Centrino laptop that seems like it is thinner & lighter than their 3500! I'm also hoping that they'll upgrade the graphics card from what I've read. Anyone know anything about that? Toshiba should at least announce upgrade plans. I'm about to lose patience and buy another brand TPC!

You are not alone. Many people, myself included, would like to see the Toshiba version of a Centrino Tablet PC. If they can make it as light as the R100, that would be amazing although I am not sure how much weight the digitizer hardware adds.

Either way, some preliminary news from Toshiba would be great because otherwise, the new Motion M1300 will get a bunch of extra sales especially with the announcement of an upcoming detachable keyboard.

If the new design is just the r100 with a digitizer and a rotation thing, I'd be sold, like instantly.

A saleswoman of Acer europe told me that the new Centrino Acer will feature the 1.0GHz Centrino for the european version of the unit (C111). I´m curious if this is really true, but I´m nevertheless in the mood for a nice Centrino Tosh with a Design comparable to the 3500 or even R100.
That´s all I want :D
