Need a DVD burner to my T4010.
Can I fit a Modular Dual-Layer Multi-Format DVD Writer (FPCDLD15AP) in my T4010 that Fujitsu lists as compatible to T4020 only?

From their website they list Modular Bay Options:
Battery Modular Bay - 6-cell Li-Ion 3800mAh (FPCBP89A) - fits both 4010 & 4020 so the bay has to be the same..

Any one know why they list the dvd (FPCDLD15AP) as a fit to the 4020 only?

Did anyone every get with you offline about your question. I am wondering the same. Fujitsu does not even list the Tablet PC T4010 on their website. Even if they did not sell the product anymore wouldn't they still sell add ons for it?

My guess would be that they are compatible. It probably isn't listed because the no longer sell the T4010.

The thing about questions like this, is that giving Fujitsu support a call would give you an instant ~99.9% correct answer. For some reason, people are afraid to call tech support with trivial questions like this. You could even load up the help chat and ask. Fujitsu is an accessible, knowledgeable, and helpful company.

All I can tell you is, there is a T4010 with DVD Writer selling in HK. (it was coming with CD-Combo Drive, but then change to DVD Writer with the same price)

There is a Single Layer drive that was sold with the T4010. Apparently, they upgraded them to Dual Layer drives.

Since were on DVD-burners.
Can I just unscrew the chassis on the cd-rw that came with my t4010 and mount it onto a thinkpad dvd-burner. The dvd-burner is actually an NEC D/L that I bought separately off ebay.

You are right, a call to tech support would answer the question. I just don't like sitting on hold and working through prompts. You would think this type of information would be out on the web some where.
I plan on calling in the morning to look at my options and costs. What sucks is if the super DVD-ROM for the T4020 is my only option it costs over $350. I would think I could find a small external DVD RW Firewire or USB2 for less and it would allow multi system use.

Is it possible to boot for sys-reload from an external DVD-ROM/Burner? I have never done it before.
