The only think I didn't like about the FranklinCovey Tabletplanner software is its thirty day trial. Yeah, just like Windows XP Pro, I needed the software before the crack was available. But $160 is not bad for such a powerful planner. I especially like the way I can add and edit tabs to customize it. Plus it does a better job of text recognition than the windows notepad.

My planner is always open. I can jot notes in the car, meetings, with clients, but I can also type notes in. Search feature works well for text, don't know about searching for handwriting. If I were to suggest a feature, Iwould ask to be able to add hyperlinks to files on the hard drive. I am in sales, and sometimes I want to pull up pricesheets or scanned customer contracts, etc. Also, I do floor plan drawings and I use drawing software. It would be great to link these files to the planner...

Anyway, review #1: Satisfied customer.

-hope it helps.

well, even though i have not purchased the software (get), i can still give an unbiased opinion. the only problem i ever had with this program is that after using it for about ten minutes, my pen would stop working, as though the digitizer were screwed up. and it was not a problem for just the planner software... it effectively made the pen useless altogether, until i restarted. this has never happened to me before, and has only happened what use the tablet planner software. i'm still considering buying it, but not until an update of some substantial kind has been offered. i might also wait to see what other programs will be introduced in the near future that do the same thing belove i make the final call.
thus, final verdict? Unsatisfied. For now, at least.

I agree that it's really expensive for just a planner, but as Say_Lok has pointed out it has a better HWR than XP. I'm amazed at how it recognizes some of my scratchings. I've added customized tabs that really help keep things straight. So all in all it's very good. I guess one of the biggest drawbacks or selling points depending how you look at it is the fact that it contains the Covey philosophy on how to set goals etc. So far I've not taken advantage of this, and am losing some of the benefits.

Yes, and it is really only a matter of time before Microsoft eat the application up.

You may know this already, but you can "print" a scanned document, or any doc for that matter, to the Notes tab of TabletPlanner and view it that way. I use this all the time because you can then annotate the doc from within TabletPlanner. If you need the original doc from your drive then a link would be better, but this works fine otherwise.

Of course, you can do this in Journal, as well.

I like the app, but wish they had included more of the features from the Outlook version like Compass into it. I still use Outlook though, for contacts, appts, etc....

The compromise I have come to is that my assistant uses Outlook to create and maintain the calendar and contacts. I use TabletPlanner away from the office, and Outlook just for email.
