I have a few questions. I am brand new to the world of TPC. I have long wanted one and finally decided to give them a try. I have been able to sample, at the same time the R15 and M205 and have been driving myself crazy which to go with. I almost need someone to decide as I have put way too much effort into this.

Some basics...I decided to take a look at the M205 w/out the screen cover and it is awesome as many have said. I was hoping to get a clear answer if not using any other cover would hurt the screen when using the pen. I also got a tiny bit of adhesive left and wanted to double check on the best way to get it off.

My other question is with the R15. For some reason after 2 training sessions I can still not get the dictation to work in word or one note. The little box is at the cursur point and it looks as if it is hearing me but no words appear after I speak. It is driving me crazy. I also found that speach worked great the first few times with the M205 but when I went to use it tonight it was very sloppy. The first few times I did not use a mic and I wasd amazed how well it worked but now I think I must have been dreaming....

Any help would be great as I am trying to make my decision by the weekend on which system to go with. I am a teacher and plan to use it in the classroom setting. I also was lucky to get both at the same price of 1449.

Just when I thought I was reaching a decision I had these speach issues and now have become frustrated....

Usually, when I have a problem with the speech recognition I run the microphone adjustment wizard. I dunno if that helps.

Ok, I had this same problem with my R15. I messed with it for about an hour and finally got it going. What I did that seemed to make the difference is going into Control Panel > Speech and change the Language from "Toshiba Discrete SR Engine English" to "Microsoft English (U.S.)v 6.1 Recognizer". I don't know why the Toshiba setting didn't work, that that what seemed to make a difference for me.

Does the R15 have an array mic with 3 microphones. The 205 does. I recently used a friend's 205 with Dragon, (2 paragraphs) and using his profile, not mine, dictation was 100%!!!

Yes, I am pretty sure the R15 does. I checked out Dragon but thought I was mistaken to read that the product starts around 185 and goes up to over 1,000. I would love to try it but that is pretty high...maybe I misread

How are you liking your R15? I am still trying it out along with a M205 and can not make the big decision which to go with. On the R15 I love the size but also hate the size. Optical drive is nice as are other aspects. If I can not get the speech to work it will be an easy choice. When I get home from work I will be quick to try your suggestion.

I went with the R15 and haven't regretted it. I plan on making this my primary computer, I think, so the size became an important factor.

Well I get home and tried to configure the microphone on my r15 but for some reason I'm still not able to get it to do anything when I select dictation the little box appears and you can see the bars moving up and down when I speak but nothing ever shows up I've trained the system three times now and even tried an auxiliary microphone under speech recognition in the control panel by languages Microsoft in English version 6.1 recognizer . If anyone has any ideas and love to give them a try as they just cannot seem to get speech to work on this computer but I can get it to work on the m205. am trying to decide between the two computers but until I can get speech recognition to work on the R. fifteen it's hard to get a clear conclusion
