Does anyone know where in Canada the NEC tablet PC is being sold? I am thinking about using it for med school. Should be perfect considering the weight and how often I'll be standing.

Oraos - I do not know of any supplier who is located in Canada who sells the NEC tablet.

CDW ships to Canada and has the NEC (or they did!)

Why I ask is because our friend Scoble in this forum mentioned that NEC had resellers in Canada as well as the US.

I'm trying to find out. We don't have a lot in Canada, that's for sure. If you have a favorite reseller, you should call them and ask why they don't carry it. Have them contact me. Ingram Micro/Canada and TechData/Canada both can order the Versa LitePad for your favorite resellers, but neither of them have ordered it yet.

The best bet is to purchase from one of our Internet resellers (CDW, Amazon, or PCConnection). Also, InfoCater (and all of our resellers) should be carrying our tablet shortly as well.

I was hoping to get a chance to hold the NEC and get a feel for it. I own the Toshiba Portege 2000 which weighs 2.6lbs. The extra battery weighs exactly 2.2lbs. (the NEC's weight!!). I keep walking around with the battery in my hand imagining the NEC tablet's "feel". My room mates must think I'm going insane as I "ponder" the battery to death.

The Portege 2000 was once the only laptop using Toshiba's own 1.8 inch hard drive at 20GB in size--perhaps the same drive that is being used in the NEC tablet?. Interestingly, Toshiba just recently released the 2010 Portege model with a **30GB** 1.8 inch hard drive.

In other words, a 20GB hard drive is not the technical limit of the NEC tablet. I guess it will be a while before the option for this larger drive is available.
