i was in starbucks opposed the global theatre in london today, and tried to get onto their free 'trial' wireless... problem is that the network name didnt appear in the available networks, and i could see a way to just connect to a 'known' wireless network (like in starbucks case 'tmobile') my other laptop that i had with me as well also didnt spot it, but did allow me to start an adhoc connection (its a 3com card)..

so the question is... if i know a networks name, and it doesnt show up in the available networks (and its open) how can i start a ad hoc connection by just entering the networks name etc... ? anyone ? :)
