I just happened to bumble on into my System Info utility and noticed the line: "Activation Status: Activation Pending (30 days remaining)". The only hardware stuff I've messed with so far is the USB variety, does plugging and unplugging different USB devices trigger this reactivation behavior?
I'm thinking this is a glitch of some sort, because I just ran the registration wizard-"oobe/msoobe /a", and it says that Windows is already activated, just as I thought. Just curious; does anyone else have the "Activation Pending" message in System Info's system summary display?

Well, you didn't say exactly *where* you found this information in the utility, but no, I don't see it in mine.

It's on the very first category, the System Summary. It still says 30 days, I'll be checking it to see if it decrements or stays stuck at 30. The System Infomation utility I'm talking about is Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information, or just Run: msinfo32

I don't have that in mine either, as far as I know the OEM version of Windows XP Tablet PC Edition has no activation routine built in so somehow yours got triggered. If it says at 30 then there are no worries, it might just be showing it by accident.

It's staying at 30 days, so it must just be a glitch. Kind of strange though, I wonder what I did that triggered it?

It sounds like the standard Windows XP activation warning. Windows XP has to be "activated" within 30 days of being run for the first time. Activation consists of letting it connect through the internet to a Microsoft server, or calling Microsoft yourself.

If it is the Windows XP activation warning, there should be a small icon on the taskbar near the clock that will give you more information if you click on it.

Oops -- I missed the line where you said that you ran the activation wizard. My apologies.

Regardless, an OEM version of WinXP doesn't require activation.
