I'm getting occasional system crashes on undocking. Is that something that was described among the docking issues before? I've had the machine for two months and today is the first time this has happened.

When I undock, about half the time it's fine and the display doesn't even flicker. The other half of the time the display flashes off (like when you rotate it). Most of the time it recovers after a couple seconds, but now some of those times, the normal display never comes back. It is replaced by the blue crash screen [xx(] and the machine reboots. This happens even when nVidia desktop manager is NOT activated. The crash has happened only with one of my two batteries. The battery was 88 to 94% charged when the crashes occurred. I'm currently charging that battery to full to try it again. My other battery is fully charged and I have yet to get a crash with it.

All the drivers etc. are up to date, maybe too much so... I updated to the latest nVidia driver and flashed my bios when the updates were first reported a couple days ago, but everything was fine till now :-(. Maybe this is the first time since then that I have undocked with a less than fully charged battery, but I really don't remember seeing the display flash black when I undocked before. It now does this about half the time irrespective of battery charge level.

I haven't called Compaq yet. Any of you got similar problems or any other ideas? Should I try to roll back the video driver or undo the bios update? The latter sounds dangerous to me.

This screen of death happened to me once out of probably dozens of undockings. I can't explain why but (and this is purely anecdotal) on that one time I pulled up the handle and pulled out the tablet VERY quickly (I was in a rush), so I wondered if somehow that had something to do with. Seems unlikely but that's all I could figure out.

One other thing is that I have an external drive on the one of the dock's USB ports and SOMETIMES, not all the time, when I undock, I get an error message popup from the system tray relating to the external drive (doesn't affect anything as the drive is OK). It seems if I make sure that I close Windows Explorer before undocking, this doesn't happen. Haven't thoroughly tested that but there might be a relation to the error message, or maybe even the screen of death.

I spent most of the afternoon (docking and) undocking, and I got 12 crashes. I'm not Sure exactly how many tines I undocked, but it might have been around 50 or 60. USB devices, variations in my clumsiness, grounding myself don't seem to affect it. I've still only had it occur with one of my two batteries, but that may be just coincidence. I'm wondering about the video driver now. I remember the read.me said something about reorganizing applications when undocking...

The problem seems to have been a USB mouse (Kensington Pocketmouse). I just had 20 successful undocks in a row with it unplugged. The crashes still occurred after disabling usb2 (EHCI). The combination of this mouse, the new bios and a less-than-fully-charged battery seems to have caused the tc1000 to crash sometimes on undocking.

Whenever I undock/dock, I always put the tablet on standby.

When docked I have a USB hard drive, monitor and wireless keyboard/mouse combo and I have a suspicion that the USB hard drive doesn't like to be undocked "on the fly."

Doing this used to screw up the nView setup but the latest Nvidia driver seems to have resolved this.
