Hi all,
I am looking at developing a stand-alone app for ruggedized touch-sensitive laptops. I'd like to use the cheaper tc1k as my demo machine until I make some money :D, but need the audio to be fairly clear for my demonstrations.
I have used the Motion machine at a gateway country store and wasn't very impressed. Can anyone give me an idea if the sound quality/available volume is comparable? Any other thoughts on the topic?
Thanks in advance -- really enjoying the forum!

The sound out of the TC1000 is very good. The built in speakers are some of the best I've heard on a portable computer (much better than my Dell Lattitude notebook). They are built into the unit. So, they are small. But they sound really good for the size.
They aren't what I'd call loud. For a conference room with about 10 people, they might be loud enough, but anything more than that you'd need a sound system.

Just needs to be reasonably audible for a single person. That's surprising (and welcome news) that they sound close to the quality (much less better) than a full sized laptop.
Thanks for the help,

quality of TC1000 speakers and microphone is superb. The only thing I am not happy with TC1000 is it generates alot of heat when AC is plugin and CPU is running at 300mhz.
My 5 year old Toshiba and my brother's 3 year old Gateway are so crappy compare to TC1000.

Good sound is an attribute that hp borrowed from their iPaq line, which also happens to have the best sound of all the Pocket PCs, IMHO.

One thing to consider on the TC1K is the fact that in landscape mode the speakers are on the right so you pretty much lose any "right-left" control and the audio "comes from the right". Not so much of an issue in portrait mode since the speakers would be at the bottom (or conceivably at the top) and would therefore have a "left" and "right" side.
That aside, I think as the other forum members here that the audio is superb!
