Since my Fujitsu is now my primary machine, I need to get serious about backups and am planning to use drive image se. I have ton's of disk space on my network. So that should go fine. I have questions about the boot disk though. How are you doing that? Is there a paticular USB floppy to buy that the tablet can boot from? OR is there a CD that came with the unit that does the trick?
Thanks in Advance,
George

George, as you know Drive Image Special Edition (DISE)comes with the Fujitsu and is located on the D partition. It allows you to create a floppy to boot from to in to restore to a previous point if the system becomes unstable. I already had a USB floppy from a Toshiba laptop which works fine the Fuji.

Question along the same lines: If I have a Fujitsu and I use Drive Image to back it up - can I then restore that very same image to a second Fujitsu? I ask b/c I'm getting a replacement for my current one that has button issues.
Thanks!

Technically yes you can. Drive Image will restore without a problem to another (your other) TPC without a problem. Upon completion and WinXP has booted, it may state that it has found new hardware (Probally will be just the wireless NIC card).
I just upgraded my Fujitsi 20 gig drive to a 40 and used drive image to back the 20 up and restore to the 40.

I just got done doing this a few minutes ago. XP was screwed and wouldn't boot at all. I thought I was in trouble because I have didn't have a usb floppy to restore the drive image with DISE, which Fujitsu said I had to have, which is really messed up because restoring the drive image is the only reason I would ever need one. Tech support (which sucks compared to Compaq's) wanted to charge me $150 for an XP install. I ended up creating a floppy drive emulation with cd creator 5 and putting DISE on a cd and it booted right to it, no problem. The moral of the story is that there is no need to waste your money and buy a USB floppy.

Flash - What button problems did you have with your Fuji? - What did Fuji tech support say?

The problem was they didn't work at all. only the Control Alt Delete button worked. Fujitsu said it was bad hardware and sent me a new unit.

Symantec ghost is what we use to prep pentabs. Specifically we use ghostcast via a boot diskette created by that program. Once you get it up and running, it is excellent. 30-45 minutes to do a drive dump of 8-10 GB of utilized drive. I back up my c500, st4000, and thinkpad once every week this way.
I believe that System works 2003 contains a network capable version of ghost.
I have tested several usb floppy drives, and the Fujitsus seem to be able to boot from all that I have encountered.

My computer is unable to find the DISE Program. The icon is there, but it is unable to complete the restore operation. Any suggestion on how to locate the DISE Program.
