I had my Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 for few weeks now, today I noticed a wide line across my screen, going horrizontally from one end to another. It is not very apparent when the tablet is viewed from top, but can be seen clearly from a angle. The line is much brighter than other areas of the screen, seems like there is some defect with LCD's backlight. Wonder if anyone else is having similar problem?

Also, I didn't know Compaq don't have a Swap Service(they ship u a TabletPC in the box which u ship the old one back) for the TabletPC, can people still purchase such service?

Thank you.

hi z,yes i have the same " light line" that can only be seen when yon are looking 45-60 degrees. I have notice it about a month ago but it's not exactly too bad so I did not make Any complain. my other laptop (sony) also have this lighter spots on the screen so I think its common for LCD.

I discovered a line too, last week, about 2-3 inches from the left side running vertically when the tablet is in portrait mode. It's only really visible when viewed on an angle and especially in a low-lit room.

It doesn't really bother me so I'm going to wait a couple of months to get it replaced till Compaq resolves some of the issues outstanding with the TC1000.

Has anyone pursued getting their LCD panel replaced to fix this condition? Like some of the others, it doesn't bother me enough to demand immediate service, but it is distracting when I'm taking notes(sitting slightly to the side of the TC1000, the white background of Journal makes the line very apparent).

After only a few weeks I have also noticed this line about 50mm from the left. It seem to be a raised part of the screen as when the back pressed it gets worse. :(

maybe a week\stress point that is bending when keyboard hinges are used.

I cannot live it and it must go back.[cry]

It is part of the backlite component of the screen itself. All of the models shipped will have this line.

The condition, viewing of, the line can be managed with the brightness function.

I have 3 units, purchased at different times and 2 direct and they all have the same issue. I even pulled one apart to review my suspision.
