Hi everyone!
l have encountered 2 new problems with my TC1K.
1-
I have noticed a new strange behaviour with my pen: from time to time it starts to send ''left clicks'' at random. I do not even have to put the tip of the pen on the screen!
To hoover over one spot is sufficient!
It works even with the tip of the pen removed! It does not do this all the time, but especially when the tablet gets hot.
2-
This is the second problem: my tablet gets also very hot sometimes.
Especially when used with graphics applications such as: Paint Shop Pro, Pen Office or oziexplorer.
When this is the case, I noticed that the fan takes a while before it opens up.
This happens even on battery power only
Any idea anyone on these 2 issues?
May be some settings that are wrong or maybe a driver?
Thanks for your help.

On the pen, have you tried replacing the battery? Though I haven't had any problems with my pen, I do have a wireless keyboard/mouse which when the batteries are low starts sending multiple keystrokes even though I only push the key once, etc...
For the heat, only thing I can think of is that the apps are CPU/GPU intensive, and since it is on battery the tablet is trying to conserve power by holding off on the fan as long as possible. I haven't had any problems with this, though, so I'm not sure. You might also try change your PowerMizer (right-click desktop, its in the drop down menu there) setting to Maximum Battery so the GeForce2 doesn't heat things up as bad when running graphics programs.

Hi Bernard,
The Compaq pens have been known to start clicking randomly. The solution is to contact Compaq tech support and tell them the problem, and ask for a new pen.
It happened to me last week. I called Compaq in the afternoon, and a new pen arrived the next day before noon! A full day ahead of when they told me it would arrive. Now *that's* great customer service!

i think that Compaq do their support in Europe from Holland. I got a new battery sent to the UK from there and it only took 2 days. It is probably the same for France.

I find my pen will send multiple left clicks after the tablet has been in the docking station for some time. The area where the pen is stored seems to get very warm, and i think the problem for me is the battery heating up. If i wait a little while for the battery to cool, i don't have a problem.

Hey guys...use the search engine to look for posts on defective pens. This was discussed in considerable detail in the weeks past and I think the solution has always been the same...faulty pen, call Compaq.

Hi people,
something happened with this pen so I have just to give the info:
Of course I ordered a new pen, talked to customer's service and they said they will ship a replacement immediately.
Meanwhile beeing quite annooyed with this left click at random problem, I dismantled the pen to have a better look, and, hoops!, broke the 2 flimsy wires that attached to its board...[xx(]
Beeing quite handy with a solder (I do my own HIFI connectors and such) I cut 5 mm off the wires to have a better ending, added a bit of solder on the tips and soldered the wires very carefully again.
Well I do not exactly know if the manufacture soldering was faulty in the first place or if it is the 5mm that made the difference, but not only the pen works, but the left click problem disappeared! [borg]
I should receive a new pen today anyway. Must I return the faulty one, or could I keep it just in case? Does anybody know what is compaq policy about that?
