Does anyone know where I can get a cheap 512Mb stick from in Australia? Compaq wants $895 AUS for 512Mb of RAM - I think not. The guys from USA seem to have heaps of places where they can get generic RAM from. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers.

Thanks acronym.

I emailed an Australian computer store (www.cougar.com.au) and asked if their generic laptop ram listed on their website would be suitable for the tc1000. The reply said no, I would need to purchase a much more expensive Kingston stick of ram than those listed on the website. There are other sticks for much less than the Kingston. In fact, there is another Kingston stick there for less and the one he said in the email isn't on their site.

Are they ripping me? Has everyone else here installed generic stuff when upgrading their tablet?

I've got to increase the ram. With 256Mb the tablet is almost unusable when docked.

Cheers.

harris technology (www.ht.com.au) normally has the kingston 512mb for $354 -their part number is g986.

but you are probably better off going to one of the corner shops (heaps here in syd) and asking them to order one for the evo n600 @ around $275

oblio,

Thanks heaps. The Kingston ram you mentioned for $354 @ HT is the one I was quoted $510 from Cougar! It's the Kingston 512Mb Module for Compaq Evo N600.

Apparently that one is the only one Kingston will warrantee to work.

Cheers.

mate, no worries. i purchased the kingston myself as I tried a 'generic' pc133 144pin sodimm which didn't work. i've heard all kinds of probs with cougar and i usually get most of my stuff from auspcmarket...

are you in nsw?
