How did you come across these? I didn't see any mention of them on the Software and Drivers section for the TC1000.

How can you tell if you should upgrade or check what number driver you have now?

roseadam, you the man! [unworthy]
looks like yon have found Compaq's secret stash !
and bloom, I don't think you should bother to check what version yon have compare to these 2, simply because it supersedes any other drivers you have installed-- Unless Your are the guy @ compaq developing all these softpaq update!

I've just installed the SP 23751, and in case yon guys wonder, it change the driver version from 3760 to 3762 [check this from either device manager properties or display advanced properties)

installed the sp23738--bios update--everything went smoothly. one weird note--i went to check the sys info @ bios, and under processor info, it says it is a K6-3 (amd's???) can someone who have not updated anything check to see if it's the same or not? thanks
Yes, the SP23738 looks promising too - might fix the hibernate/wake up problem. From the SP23738 readme:

Make sure you have the battery in and you are plugged into AC when you update the BIOS, just to be sure you don't end up with a brick, and close down every other program you can find in Task Manager. Updating the BIOS from hard drive has, in the past, been ... a risky procedure.
UPDATE:
After 5 tests: The standby to hibernate problem no longer exists on my TC-1000 (following the bios update listed above). Thanks Compaq!
FYI, in addition to MooseMaster's wise words above, be advised that the bios update erases your bios passwords (at least the startup password was erased on mine) - so make sure you recheck this after updating.

Just installed the two updates and it would appear my USB keyboard and mouse no longer disconnects. Tried running the tour, and didn't have a problem.

Process Type: Transmeta(tm) Cursoe(tm) TM5800

Or are you looking somewhere else?

Long story...
To make it short, after the BIOS update now my PenPower Chinese Handwriting System (which comes with HK version of TC1000) wopuld not load since it said it cannot detect my tablet... so my conclusion is after the BIOS update there is a new serial number assigned to the tablet digitizer and thus the software won't recognized it and it won't load.
So if anyone has the old BIOS, please sent it to me and reply in this thread so that other members would not flood my hotmail account.
Thanks a mil!

This is bad news...
I reflushed the BIOS with the old BIOS file and now the system won't boot. [:O] So the next thing I need to do is to call Compaq HK and hope they'll fix it for me.
Hopefully they will, but I dunno how long will the turn around time be.[cry]
I am posting my idiotic experience here because I want no one to follow my footsteps.
God I miss my tablet.

I didn't do the BIOS update yet (although I'm very tempted!). One thing that concernes my (besides the problems decribed here, especially that obviousely a wrong processor is detected as I read in a posting in this thread) is: why didn't HP put it online yet? They added the NVIDA driver but not the BIOS.

I did the bios update and it worked fine. I can't say anything about the processor identity I haven't looked at the bios settings but the OS reports everthing fine. The hibernation problem was getting frustrating so I did it.

same here. I did the update, no problems. The correct processor is listed, Transmeta Crusoe... Everything works as advertised with, no special technique necessary.
Anyone who has had a bios quirk like Intel processor being listed should definitely speak with Compaq Tech support, this may be indicative of a larger problem, or something they should look into...

Have you tried contacting the CHS software makers to see if they could give you a workaround?

Actually, the very next day (3/3) I have sent my Tablet back to HP/Compaq for inspection, and today (3/5) the tech guy called me and told me he has replaced the entired motherboard! [^]:D And the Tablet is ready to be pick up on tomorrow (3/6)... No question asked![8D]
Talking about customer service! HP/Compaq (HK) rocks![thumbsup]

This SoftPaq installs Transmeta Code Morphing Software (CMS) and Persistent Translation Technology. THIS UPGRADE IS INTENDED FOR SYSTEMS PURCHASED AFTER 11/7/02.
Enhancements:
Improves boot time.
Improves application launch times.
Evidently this update enhances the performance on the units by 5-24%.

I did all three upgrades yesterday, along with all Windows XP upgrades, and so far, all it well. I will install Office XP and my palm software today.
All of this on a brand new machine from eCost. They did a great job.

Hi guys...
I've got a bit of trouble with my TC 1000
The problem is that i cant get a external USB cdrom drive to get recognized in the bios, in order to boot from it.
I've heard of a dock with a cdrom drive in it, but it would be nice if I could avoid buying that thing, just for the cd-drive.
can any of you guys help me out here?

There have been several discussions about this in the past. Your best bet is to search the archives here regarding this issue.
Only certain makes of USB CD-ROM's can be used to boot from. Others may operate fine during regular usage, but many aren't recognized for trying to boot. Your best bet is to genuine HP/Compaq drives. I think Toshiba's worked, too, but don't remember for sure.

SK:
You don't necessarily need the dock. You can use the external multibay and an HP multibay drive. The external multibay is about $80 direct from HP; an HP 24x CD-ROM is about $70 direct from HP.

Chris...
I recently picked up an Iomega USB2 CD-RW 48x24x48x/DVD-ROM 16x
which allowed me to boot my TC1100 from CD without any problems. It doesn't seem to have a model number written on it anywhere, otherwise I'd give you that.
Big advantage is that it's a _lot_ cheaper than the genuine HP one.

Thanks all for your replys.
I've got a HP CD-writer+ (8200 series) mounted in a usb-box called "C4453A".
I've called the HP support who told me to look in the bios for a "usb legacy enabled/disable" but having just flashed the newest bios from their site, and not found this menu-item makes me wonder a bit... do you guys have this bios-item? if so, please mail me a bin file to p@rtyman.dk
If the dock isn't to pricey, I'd might persuade myself into buying one... do you know what P/N it has?
Anywho, im IT admin and got some servers running RIS - so i think i'll just make the clean install through this cus it'll be faster than waitning for a CD-solution :o)
... which brings me to the last thing i wanna query y'all about: Windows Tablet XP std. vs. the 2005 edition.
Any improvements? Any limitations in regards to our tc1000 machines?
Sincerly
Kenneth Andersen.
