My new pen arrived today.

Tried it out and I have no probles with the pen not being able to operate the harware buttons for inpot panel and journal and orientation. Nor with the pen nto being able to get to the edge of the screen.

With it cam a new battery of course.

SO I swapped the batteries in the two pens and discovered that if the battery is running a bit flat, then the pen won't reach the edge of the screen and as the day goeson the bit it can't reach gets wider and wider. SImilarly with pen activated buttons - if the battery is getting flat int he pen, the buttons start behavign erratically and then finally stop working.

Presumably it means that the field coming from the pen is too weak to penetrate at the point of the buttons or be detected at the edge of the screen.

So, the simple fix is to get a new pen battery.

Mind you I'm a bit frustrated that the battery in the pen only lasted for what, two months or so. Now all I have to o is find a supplier of batteries....

Several suppliers have been mentioned in this forum, including Radio Shack and some drug stores (some diabetic testing equipment uses the same size).

Ah, yes, thanks.

I know you mean to be helpful but that little tiny teensy thing called "The-Big-Wide-World-Outside-Of-America" has neither Radio Shacks nor drug stores!

oh... well in that case, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope, along with $55 US per battery, to me.

Does your teensy little part of the world have internet access? Perhaps you could search Google or Floogle (hint: Try "AAAA Battery") and choose one of the 1,000 or so mail order sites that serve your teensy part of the world. :D Here's the first one I clicked on - they deliver worldwide: http://www.batterymart.com/battery.mv?p=EVR-E96BP2

P.S. Do Hercules, Xena, and hobbits really live there? ;)

Wow no drug stores...That must suck for when your people get, you know, sick.

Now this is just what I mean:

Batterymart by "deliver worldwide" mean in reality "deliver in the US or Canada".

Actually I want to find a place in my own country that sells the blessed things.

I know of ourse that there are heaps of places that sell over the internet - I buy on theinternet all the time - but don't know quite why, a little quirk in my character that likes to get upset. I really like to get upset about such things.

And yes, Xena's aunt and uncle and cousins live 3 doors up the hill, many of my friends have large hairy feet and we all live in holes in the ground with round doors. If only Gandalf would come back and make the masts of our boats stay in one piece we would be happy here in Middle Earth. Unfortunately the old guy is always disappearing to the Land Beyond the Western Sea where we all suspect he has an elvin floosy.

Energizer sells the AAAAs in 2 packs as e2 Titanium technology based alkalines in Canadian Radio Shacks for about $10.00. Supposedly these batteries have a longer life than normal alkalines.
