I've noticed other laptops that have touchpads, have neat utilities which allows you do to things like customize the outer edges to act as scroll bars -- so if you run your finger up and down on the right most edge, it will scroll the screen up adn down.
Anything like this for the toshiba touchpads? I've got the portege 3505 tablet.
Yes, the 35xx Portege's come with those features and were already enabled on mine. Look in the Control Panel, Mouse properties, Gestures tab.

-hardware

I have the touch pad icon in the system tray that you can click on, or Mouse under Control Panel. Either one give the Mouse Properties which have the settings that you have mentioned. Mine was factory installed.
If you installed an external mouse and loaded the mouse drivers it can change this. I installed a wireless mouse and installed their CD. That was a big mistake. I deleted the mouse and rebooted. The ALPS touchpad was recognized and reinstalled the proper drivers.
Good Luck.

Aha! I've been trying to figure out what I was inadvertently doing that was causing the browser to go back--subsequently causing me to loose my entries. It was the damn touchpad gestures! I've turned them off now.

Thanks for this info! I'm typing this on my '3505 now, and I'd noticed that sometimes the touch pad would scroll, but for the life of me couldn't seem to figure out why. Now I know - VERY handy, and I suddenly like my touch pad quite a bit more!
