Hi,

I just got my external Multibay with a CDRW/DVD Drive. My questions to the experts: is there any reason to install the included Roxio s/w or is there any disadvantage using the XP built in burning capabilities?

By the way it's very nice and small.

Depends on your usage for the CD/RW. If you do a lot of burning, you may find Roxio to have more capabilities with it's wizards, labeling app, etc. If you are simply copying whole CD's or copying data files to a CDR, builtin XP software will probably work fine.

My suggestion is to do it without it until you really feel you can't do what you need. One less piece of software is always a plus!

this is what I also thought. But how do I copy a whole CD with plain XP?

You basically have to copy the entire contents to your hard drive, copy it back. Not pretty, but it will work. Be sure and put the same volume "label" on the new disk, some software looks for the name to be there ....
