Tablet and Pocket PCs can definitely co-exist, in fact I don't think one should replace the other. I still use my Pocket PC for access to PIM functions when away from my desk because it's 'instant on'. If I need a phone number, or a quick check of my calendar, it's faster to push a button corresponding to either Contacts or Calendar on the Pocket PC, than it is to bring the Tablet out of standby.

Also, you should be able to get a 512MB chip for much less than $280.00. I got mine from digi4me.com for about $100.00, shipped.

I agree. I have never considered my Tablet as a replacement for my iPAQ. My iPAQ has my schedule, some important Excel and Word documents that I may need in a moments notice, some games to play while waiting on an appointment, my bible and it can wake up and remind me of important events.

My Tablet does everything my laptop used to plus lets me take meeting notes, annotate documents, read online magazines on a 12.1 screen and sync my iPAQ.

To me they satisfy different needs. I see some overlap, but unless you carry your tablet with you at all time and in suspend mode, taking a quick note is not as handy as it is on your Pocket PC.

I am very happy with both my Tablet and my iPAQ. And of course I feel that I have the best in both, don't we all. :D

Nah, I've got the best of both: A Motion Tablet and a Toshiba e550G. :D

I have been enjoying the tablet much more... Nothing like waking up in the morning and not having to get out of bed to begin the workday!! :)

TC1000 + IPAQ = Awesome. Either one by itself, you lose something. The TC1000 is a personal COMPUTER, the IPAQ is a personal DIGITAL ASSISTANT. Nothing better than the very long battery life, the "wake on appt reminder" feature, etc. on the Pocket PC. Until they get battery life to no longer be an issue on the tablet, my IPAQ will have it's place fondly in my case. On the other hand, I have never acclimated myself to note taking on the IPAQ, it's just too tedious to tap-tap-tap. I do however, use the voice recording function a lot to make "notes to self".

I don't know y'all (hey the writing pad understood "y'all"). I just got back to my desk and my iPaq is gone and my Motion is doing its happy chirp and wagging the power cable.

They both have their place. The PDA is perfect for the instant on, quick lookup...contacts, calendar, etc, where Outlook can be a bit tedious and slow.

I just switched from an IPAQ to a Siemens PocketPC phone. It is great. Now, my phone and PDA are combined into the same device.

What more can you ask for:
TabletPC & PocketPC Phone....

I think long battery life isn't an advantage my IPAQ has over my TC1000 -they're about the same.
