Anyone tried installing Windows 2000 on TC1k? The machine runs really fast with Win2k! :P But unfortunately, the NVIDIA drivers flipped the screen and the Detonator drivers by NVIDIA does not work with TC1k.

I'm not able to flip the screen to primary landscape to use TC1k connected to the keyboard. It defaults to secondary landscape. Anyone had any clue on how to flip the screen in Win2k?

Seems like Linux would be a better alternative OS, if you're willing to give up Journal.

Larry,

If I were you I'd try XP again but with the Themes service turned off. This gives you the Win 2k shell on XP without all the XP "frosting" that it has turned on by default. This made a big performance difference for me.

I've tweak my TC1k which is running Tablet PC Edition to not use all the WinXP visual jingles, setting System->Advanced->Performance->Settings->Visual Effects->Adjust for best performance, and this speeds up the OS quite a bit. Thanks for the tip on Themes, I've turned it off to save some more memory :)

I've also upgraded the RAM to 768MB, and configured the systems to not have any pagefile, and System->Advanced->Performance->Settings->Memory usage to System cache.

But it still doesn't run as fast as Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I now have my TC1k on dual boot between WinXP Tablet PC Edition and Win2k Advanced Server. I need Advanced Server for development use, but got stuck at the flipped landscapre display, making the TC1k unusable with the keyboard...
