I just ordered 512MB from Crucial (part CT277220)
for $129 ($149 - $20 coupon code) with free 2nd-day Fedex.
Just go to crucial.com.
Find Gateway on the manufacturers menu,
then TabletPC at the bottom of the product menu.
Next to the 512MB stick entry,
there is a $20 coupon code.

If you live in the San Francisco Bay area you can just run down to Fry's Electronics and get 512 MB for less than $100.

frys are also in Sacramento CA and in Phoenix and Tempe Az and they have a website at www.outpost.com
Outpost doesn't have any 512mb 144pin SODimms listed. Their 256mb versions are >$100.

Please post what SODIMM's worked and what didn't. I bought a
256MB SODIMM here
http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=32X64NB133-N
and it doesn't work. the machine just beeps. I don't know if the ram is defective or if it's incompatible. I would like to order one from another vendor but not if it's incompatible. It's
https://www.bigstep.com/siterunner/oempcworld/shopping-cart.html;$sessionid$SC1WYVIAAAA1LTZENUGJPQWPERWRJ PX0
but that looks like its the same specs as the one that failed.
Does anyone know if it should be compatible or not? Thanks.
The one you ordered should work. What series of beeps are you getting?
It's possible that the RAM isn't seated properly. Try booting the system with only the new module in and see what happens. If you can't get it to work at all, call Compgeeks and see what they say.

I tried swapping them and I tried it by itself in both sockets. no combination worked. the beeps were a post code. I don't remember the sequence but I can try it again when I get home and let you know.

well I checked out the ram chips on the Hynix website and
it matches. it's a 256MB-133. the ram chip is HY57V56820BT-H
and the part numbering decoder is here:
http://www.hynix.com/products/dram/down/SDRAM_COM_NEW.PDF
as far as I can tell it should be compatible and work so I think
it's a defective sodimm. I haven't heard back from compgeeks on the
email I sent them. I'd like to send this back and order a sodimm from
another vendor. oempcworld, crucuial, or wherever.
